CED

The technological solution adopted to develop the Urban Maintenance System centres on two fundamental principles:

  •   the centralized management of data
  •   the delocalization of working tools

the centralized management of data

The management of data (spatial and non) takes place in a spatial database.
This type of solution makes it possible to memorize, access, monitor and handle geographical data with solid relational database tools, and guarantees the typical modalities of a Gis environment. All the properties of the relational database extend to the spatial data: thus it is possible to apply the logic of normalization, lock, mirror, commit or rollback. This ensures the full correspondence of data, both in the various applications and in distinct access interfaces.
This makes it possible, for example, for several different users to edit the same record at the same time, with a solid and appropriate management of conflicts. This means that several operators can work at the same time without compromising the solidity of the information.
This type of solution makes it possible to adopt the technical characteristics of management systems or to activate historization mechanisms for geographical objects.

interfunctional sharing

Just as it is important to have a univocal data base, it is equally essential that this database be shared by all the subjects who operate on the territory.
Though the different operators have diverse roles, points of view and needs, they all operate on the same territory. It is therefore necessary for them to manage the information in a coordinated manner.
The solution is simple: develop diverse applications that share the same database and comply with the system modalities.
This way, the univocal codes that identify geographical objects become a shared unit of measure in the dialogue between different operators.
The organization of the system allows the data management to be delocalized physically, while maintaining its univocal nature. The operators are in fact distributed throughout the territory and it is important to reach them in capillary fashion.
