secondary elements

By “secondary elements” we mean the information levels that are not treated strictly as master data but contribute to support the operative activities, the design and planning and the decision-making systems.

benchmarks

benchmarks

This is a geodetic network of 80 GPS control points, reference, reconnection and linkage of the network to the tide gauge at Punta Salute, to the Igm vertices in the surrounding area and existing geometric leveling lines (Igm). More than 4000 benchmarks have been monumented in the historic city centre of Venice (reference or densification).

underground utilities

underground utilities

A hidden but no less vital element for the city, the underground utilities run under streets and bridges, along routes that are generally unfamiliar. The underground utilities constitute a map of routes that are constantly updated as the works by Insula, or the cooperation with other agencies, make it possible to survey new tracts.

bathymetry

bathymetry

This data concerns the depth of the canals in Venice and the islands and the relative mathematical model. This information, along with the values of sedimentation, make it possible to plan a more rational schedule for dredging the canals to ensure that they remain navigable.

basic maps

basic maps

This represents the entirety of the basic information levels underlying the supporting and secondary cartography for the generation and consultation of work levels. It includes more than 300 information levels for which the various operators working in the territory of Venice are responsible.
